How the First Dental Visit Works at Fonzar Dental Practice
Upon arrival at the practice, you will be welcomed with kindness and professionalism: our reception staff will offer you a coffee or a beverage to help you feel at ease. Monica, Cinzia, and Massimiliano will assist you in completing your personal record, which will accompany your treatment journey. Afterwards, one of our dentists will conduct a comprehensive examination based on a detailed diagnosis, which will be used to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This approach combines experience, advanced technology, and empathetic attention for a dental visit in Udine.
How Long Does the First Dental Visit Take?
The first visit is thorough and detailed: we allocate approximately 60 minutes to welcome you calmly, gather all necessary information, and carry out a complete clinical examination. During this time, we take your medical history, perform a direct examination, possibly take X-rays, and carry out initial assessments using technologies such as digital radiology, intraoral scanners, and intraoral cameras. This is a crucial moment to establish the foundation for an effective, safe, and long-lasting path to a healthy smile—a key step for anyone seeking a dental visit in Udine.
When Should You Have a Dental Check-up?
It is advisable to schedule a first visit if you experience sensitivity, pain, gum bleeding, or changes in the balance of your mouth; but also simply for a preventive check. Our approach aims to identify periodontal diseases or other problems before they become serious, thanks to advanced technologies and interdisciplinary expertise. Addressing issues early helps preserve your natural teeth and build a long-term maintenance plan. A responsible and caring choice: we are here for your dental visit in Udine.
Fear of the Dentist: How to Face the First Visit
We understand that anxiety can delay the decision to start treatment. At Fonzar Dental Practice, we create a welcoming, comfortable, and visually relaxing environment where the experience of our multidisciplinary team and gentle handling makes a difference. Our empathetic approach guides you step by step, explaining each phase clearly and reassuringly. The goal is to transform a potentially stressful moment into a calm, pain-free experience, placing your care in the hands of professionals who treat you with respect and delicacy.
First Visit: Symptom Analysis and Diagnosis
During the first visit, we analyze your symptoms thoroughly using X-rays, clinical examinations, and photographic documentation of your mouth. Thanks to tools such as intraoral scanners and CBCT imaging, we can identify cavities, periodontal disease, trauma, or other conditions with precision. Our practice’s multidisciplinary approach allows us to create a comprehensive diagnosis, offer personalized treatment alternatives, and start an integrated, long-lasting care path—always focused on preserving natural teeth and your peace of mind.
Approach and First Visit
First Contact
At the first contact, whether by phone or in the office, you will be welcomed by Monica, our Customer Care Manager, who will ask you a series of specific questions to fully understand your needs and care requirements. At the end of the conversation, if you wish, Monica will schedule an appointment for your first visit with one of our five dentists.

Initial Documentation
Monica, Cinzia, and Massimiliano will assist you in completing your personal record, which will accompany you throughout all future treatments at the practice.
Monica, Cinzia, and Massimiliano will always be available to assist you in completing your personal record, which will accompany you throughout all future treatments at the practice. Maria Grazia, Annarita, or Alessia will then guide you to the assigned dentist, who, based on the initial notes prepared by Monica, will conduct a thorough first examination aimed at formulating an accurate diagnosis—essential for planning a treatment plan tailored to your specific issue. The treatment plan will therefore be custom-designed to meet your goals and individual needs.
The Estimate
Based on the preliminary or definitive treatment plan, Cinzia, our Administrative Manager, will prepare an approximate estimate of the care needed to address your dental issues. With her, you can discuss the payment options that best suit your needs, allowing you to proceed with treatment confidently, knowing you will receive the highest professional quality combined with a financial plan tailored to your situation.
Initial Documentation
During the first appointment, your initial documentation will be collected, including photographs of the entire mouth, intraoral X-rays, and study models (plaster casts).
Having all the initial information readily available at any time makes it easier to manage unexpected events, such as a tooth fracture. During the reconstruction phase, the study models provide a replicable reference for the tooth’s shape, while the photographs give information on its color and anatomical details.
The study models (casts) faithfully reproduce the shape of your teeth and gums at the time of your first visit and therefore serve as an essential starting point.
How We Treat – First Approach: The Dental Hygienist
How we treat? In the absence of urgent treatments requiring immediate intervention, a first appointment will be scheduled with one of our four dental hygienists: Marinella, Cristina, Germana, or Chiara. The type and duration of the session will vary depending on the diagnosis (presence or absence of periodontal disease) and the initial oral hygiene level.
The goal of the first appointment with the hygienist is to bring your oral cavity to an optimal state for subsequent treatments, as well as to teach you how to effectively manage home oral hygiene routines.
In the presence of periodontal disease, the purpose of the initial appointment with the hygienist is to halt the progression of the condition through non-surgical periodontal therapy, a key specialty of Fonzar Dental Practice.

Treatment
At the end of this process, the most important phase begins. Our goal is always to preserve our patients’ natural dentition; therefore, whenever possible, treatment is carried out with respect for your teeth, aiming for the complete restoration of oral health.
How We Treat – Long-Term Maintenance of Achieved Results
Once the treatment phase is complete, a follow-up program will be defined with you, personalized based on your initial clinical condition, your home oral hygiene practices, and your risk factors, to periodically monitor your oral health and prevent the development of new issues over time.
Numerous studies have shown that this phase, called “supportive therapy,” is essential for the long-term maintenance of achieved results.
